Plans and Limits
One subscription covers your whole account. Every plugin you register shares the account's event quota; the plugin count, event types and retention are per plan.

Which plan fits
- Free is for wiring up the SDK and checking that events arrive. One plugin, two event types and a week of history are enough to test an integration, not enough to run a published plugin on.
- Starter is for one to three published plugins with a modest audience. You get enough event types to track every feature and three months of history to compare releases.
- Pro is for plugins with a large or fast-growing audience, or for a catalogue of up to ten. Event types are unlimited and a full year of history shows seasonality.
- Business is for studios and teams with many plugins. It has the largest quota and two years of history.
To estimate the events you need, multiply monthly active users by sessions per user and by the actions you track in a session, then add one event per session. A plugin with 1,000 monthly users, 4 sessions each and 5 tracked actions per session sends about 24,000 events a month.
What the limits mean
- Plugins is how many plugins or widgets the account can have registered at once. Each one gets its own API key and its own dashboard. Archived plugins do not count.
- Events per month is one quota for the whole account, shared by every plugin on it.
- Event types per plugin is how many different action names one plugin can send.
- Data retention is how far back the dashboard can look. Older events are deleted.
How the quota is counted
- Events are actions, metrics and sessions together. Each
trackAction(),trackActionWithMetric()and each WebSocket session counts as one. - The period is one month. On a paid plan it starts when the subscription is created and restarts on every renewal. On Free it follows the calendar month. The current period and usage are on your dashboard.
- Event types are the distinct
actionNamevalues a plugin has sent. Remove one in the plugin settings to free its slot; recorded events stay. - Retention deletes events older than the plan's window once a day.
What happens at a limit
| Limit reached | Response from the backend | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Events per month | 429 events_limit_reached, event dropped | Wait for the period to reset or upgrade. We email you at 80% and 100%. |
| Event types per plugin | 403 event_types_limit_reached for the new name only; known names keep flowing | Remove a type in plugin settings or upgrade. |
| Plugins | 403 plugin_limit_reached when registering | Archive a plugin or upgrade. |
| Downgrade below your plugin count | newest plugins become suspended, 403 plugin_suspended on their events | Upgrade again or archive other plugins. |
The SDK never throws on these responses; it logs them to the console. See Error Handling.
Changing plans
Upgrades take effect immediately and charge the difference for the rest of the period. Downgrades apply at the next renewal. Cancelling keeps your plan until the paid period ends, then the account moves to Free with its limits applied.
